The Next Best Thing to Acura Rsx
Filed Under Automotive | Comments Off
A set of premium quality Acura RSX parts is the next best thing to having a brand new RSX. Since the Acura RSX model is no longer being sold, replacing damaged RSX parts now serves as perhaps the only means to preserve one’s Acura RSX.
The Acura RSX was a strong seller for Honda. However, with the introduction of the 2006 Honda Civic Si, which is approximately as powerful but less expensive, Honda decided -to cease production of Acura RSXs. It was more or less a marketing decision for Honda, as they did not want to cannibalize one product with another. Despite the RSX enthusiasts’ outrage over the news, the manufacturers of Honda and Acura decided on focusing more on the Honda Civic Si, since many are inclined to buy it for its similarity with the Acura RSX, but with a lower a tag price.
For those who were fortunate to grab their own Acura RSX, the line of Acura RSX parts is out in the market to be of assistance in maintaining as well as preserving the now legendary Acura RSX. Basic Acura RSX parts designed to enhance the car’s performance include ignition wires, high-flow air filters, and exhaust headers. One can also opt to avail of Acura RSX parts like nitrous, turbochargers, and multiple-spark ignition boxes. These parts will surely improve RSX’s run.
A car model that is no longer available on the market does not necessarily make it obsolete. The Acura RSX remains to be one of the best vehicles Acura has so far. The reason it was pulled out of the market had nothing to do with its quality, but more for practicality. Despite being Honda’s luxury car making arm, Acura has not fully thrown away the notion of practicality. Continued manufacturing of Acura RSX parts is one of the best offers Acura has for RSX enthusiasts.

Are there any advantages to selling at an Acura dealership comapred to a lower priced KIA?
Filed Under Marketing & Sales | 1 Comment
I have a job offer to sale cars at a KIA store and an Acura store that requires a college degree. The Kia store is full of salesman that smoke on the lot and dress very unprofessional. The Acura dealer has professionally dressed salesman and smoking on the lot is not allowed. Is the money better at higher end dealerships or is the only real advantage atmosphere?

Responsive Braking Through Acura Rotors
Filed Under Automotive | Comments Off
Acura’s braking system is as famous as its luxurious look. In fact, Acura has been given a rare “five-star” safety recognition by the U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), because of its safety features such as a cutting edge braking system. A set of key complementary parts form this braking system, making the latter a truly efficient working system. One of them is the Acura Rotor.
An Acura Rotor’s main function is to cool the brakes down when the braking system starts to heat up. Constant exposure to heat may cause the brakes to fade eventually, reducing the car’s braking efficiency. The heat could also cause the brake pads to wear out faster. Aside from cooling the brakes down, the Acura Rotors also help produce friction through contact with the brake pads. This friction is needed to stop the vehicle.
In view of the Acura Rotors’ sensitive functions, manufacturers made them out of metal. Metal has the natural ability to both conduct and help dissipate heat as well. Yet, there are techniques involved in increasing the cooling ability of the Acura Rotors. A set of slots cut through the outer edge of the unit and run towards the center, providing space in which the air could flow through. Other methods include cross-drilling and special surface treatments.
Despite its robust makeup, constant usage could bring a lot of damage on the Acura Rotors. One of the dangers they may face is metal corrosion, characterized by pits and gouges on the surface and flaked rusts that clog the cooling slots. The results are a worn out set of brake pads and inefficient heat transfer. Owners need not to worry about replacement since Acura Rotors are widely available in market. However, while there are a lot of aftermarket dealers offering rotors, responsible Acura owners should practice caution upon choosing what is the best for their cars. Consulting a trusted mechanic is highly recommended by experts.

Best in Class Cold Air Intake for a Performance-rated Acura Ride
Filed Under Automotive | Comments Off
The capacity to produce horsepower from the burn material stored in an Acura engine depends in large part on the purity of the air and fuel mixture. While fuel is maintained safe and saturated by the fuel tank of the Acura, air is ordinarily the chink in the power generation process as its quality is entirely dependent on many factors like altitude and temperature, among others. High altitudes, for example, don’t provide too much oxygen in the atmosphere for the car to use during combustion.
In order for these factors not to affect the air intake process, an Acura part called the cold air intake is typically used to replace the stock air intake system of the vehicle. It is an engine system part mounted on the grille of the car, drawing in cold air from outside the Acura compartment and mixing it with the fuel. The oxygen-filled cold air provides more molecules to burn, resulting in an increase on engine power. By letting the Acura engine absorb fresh and denser air, its internal combustion engine is optimized through the burning of better, cooler air. A significant improvement in combustion performance equals greater engine power.
Chief difference of an Acura cold air intake from an ordinary air intake system is the airflow. The Acura cold air intakes have more access to colder air because of their position in the engine compartment. Unlike other intakes which just let the air stay in the engine and which can heat up the air because of the engine’s high temperature, cold air intakes diffuses air quickly and consistently. The Acura cold air intake then reroutes air away from the hot engine bay, saving the oxygen molecules before the heat consumes them. Through a network of precision-engineered intake passages and free-flowing air filter assembly, the Acura cold air intake frees up the engine’s air intake track, enabling the cooler, denser mass of air to circulate into the throttle body at higher velocities.

Acura\’s Ace: the Acura Ball Joint
Filed Under Automotive | Comments Off
Acura is a Honda brand for cars—a name that’s quite synonymous to luxury. After all, this is Honda’s luxury car division in the U.S. . Since its launch in several markets worldwide, Acura has been widely associated with high-end automobile affluence in the automotive industry. Since 1996, Honda has been credited with being the first automaker to tap into a market for luxury Japanese cars located outside Japan. Before Acura, automobiles exported from Japan were primarily economical in design and largely targeted at low-cost consumers. The automobile lineup of Acura is highly recognized in the industry to be innovative as well as efficient. Garnering countless awards and recognition, most notably the prestigious Motor Trend “2001 Sport/Utility of the Year” award for the MDX SUV, Acura is quite recognized as an emerging leader in the queue of luxury car makers. Acura’s practice in engineering is a simple principle. Basically, what the company wants is to manufacture and promote the use of top-of-the-line car parts and accessories that will improve the overall performance of the company’s car models. Parts of each Acura car model’s system is designed to contribute efficient functionality and to support the system it is part of.
A prime example would be the ball joint. Ball joints are parts of your vehicle’s suspension assembly that links the steering knuckles to the control arms. A ball joint is essentially made up of a flexible ball and socket team that allows the suspension to move and the wheels to steer at about the same time. Cars and trucks without strut suspensions typically have four of them while sedans and minivans with strut suspensions have only two. Some front-wheel drive cars also have ball joints in the rear suspension assembly.
The case of the Aura ball joints, however, is a mile different from what is considered standard. Acura ball joints serve as key pivot points between the tires and suspension. And when it comes to suspension, Acura cars have great suspension systems because the Acura ball joints also support the suppressed weight of the entire vehicle. Acura considers the ball joints to be an essential component in every model they manufacture. This is likely one of the major reasons why the company continues to garner respect from its competitors. With valuable parts like these, it is safe to say that Acura will retain its outstanding position in the global market for many years to come.

Acura: the Improved Luxury Lineup
Filed Under Cars | Comments Off
Honda originally launched their Acura sport and luxury division during 1986, and the company has continually improved their product line ever since. The days of Acura’s driving and performing like their similar Honda counterparts are long gone. Numerous upgrades and enhancements have been made to the Acura vehicles to make them more luxurious and refined than ever before.
When the Acura product line first rolled off the assembly line they had a few top selling vehicles including the Integra, Legend, and Vigor that quickly became popular. Motor Trend even named the Legend coupe as the “Import Car of the Year” back in 1987. In addition they also named the Integra as one of the top 10 best cars to drive on the road. Considering this was a fairly new brand for Honda, the Acura series did exceptionally well in their first few years. This definitely raised the standards for Honda on all of its new models.
Up to this day, Honda’s subsidiary brand still remains a leader in providing high quality, luxury sport coupes and vehicles. Many of the older models, however, have been retired and others replaced with newer models that are being marketed under a few new names such as:
- Acura RL: A midsize, luxury sedan that seats up to 5 passengers
- Acural TL: A midsize, 5 passenger sport luxury sedan
- Acura TSX: A midsize, 5 passenger lower priced alternative to the TL
- Acura RSX: A 4 passenger, sporty coupe priced at around $24,000
- Acura NSX: A fairly expensive 2 passenger exotice sports car
- Acura MSX: A larger 7 passenger luxury sport utility vehicle (SUV)
The new models have definitely changed drastically since the car manufacturer’s line was first introduced in ‘86. Interior improvements, technological improvements, and additional standard and luxury features, have been added over the years and especially in the recently released models. Acura is definitely providing some stiff competition for two similar competing Japanese luxury brands (Infiniti and Lexus).
Acura has also created a very stong following for car enthusiasts and aftermarket “tuners” looking to spice up or “trick out” their sport compact. The Acura Integra (now the RSX), is still an ever popular choice among these enthusiasts. Although, this car is probably not quite as popular as Honda’s Civic, it offers many of the same features at a slightly higher price point.
In summary, Honda has clearly brought out an excellent and constantly improving line up of vehicles for consumers both young and old. With everything from small sport compacts to large luxury SUVs, with high quality features and added extras, they are sure to appeal to just about everyone. Loyal Acura enthusiasts and car lovers alike will surely continue to follow the company’s strong brand and well known quality line of vehicles for years to come!

Alms 2007: Acura Teams Time to Learn
Filed Under Automotive | Comments Off
For the Acura teams making their debut in the American Le Mans Series, 2007 has been a challenging year. And the team is looking forward to etch a better name in ALMS endurance and sprint races.
Robert Clarke, the president of Santa Clarita-based Honda Performance Development, said that the on-track performances thus far have been superb despite only one win in seven races. Honda Performance Development produces and maintains the engines for the three Acura teams in the ALMS.
The Andretti Green Racing team, with Valencia’s Bryan Herta as one of its drivers, won the LMP2 portion of the season-opening 12 Hours of Sebring. The Acura teams have yet to win a race since, with the Porsches of Team Penske dominating the LMP2 division. But the Acura teams have been competitive, posting a number of podium finishes and beating the cars in the LMP1 division on a regular basis.
“Winning the first race at Sebring and that was quite an accomplishment for the new Acura program,” Robert Clarke said. “We would like to win another race this year. When you win the season opener, you feel that you can win some races. But we were realistic about the 2007 season. We weren’t looking for on-track results. This was a learning year for us with the Acura program and the three Acura teams. The Porsches are very fast. So it is tough.”
Herta and Adrian Fernandez, two of the team’s drivers, have tried racing at Road America. The ALMS race at Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wis., will mark the eighth race of the 12-race season.
“At Road America, overall speed is important and I think we have the power to be very competitive,” Clarke said. “We are not really in the championship battle this year. Learning the series and sports car racing in general was the goal in 2007 for Acura.”
In previous races, Herta’s Andretti Green Racing team was not that competitive. Matter of fact, it is struggling. It may be tough for the manufacturer of Acura ball joints. In the most recent race at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, Herta and teammate Marino Franchitti finished seventh, the Daily News reported.
“The XM Satellite Radio Acura team has not finished the last few races and with five races left, we have to finish them all,” said Herta. “Both the team and I have the chance to finish third in the championship and I think that would be an exceptional first year in the series, so that’s the goal. In order to do that, we have to finish races with no mistakes or reliability problems from here on out.”
Fernandez has 11 career starts at Road America in Champ Cars. He has three podium finishes in his career there, his best showing coming in 2000 when he was second, the report continued. “This is my favorite track. I love driving here,” Fernandez said. “The last time I competed at Elkhart was in 2003 in Champ Cars and I had a pretty good record going with three podiums. We had a great test here before the start of this season, and I have a lot of confidence for a strong finish in the race.”
At mid-Ohio, the Lowe’s Fernandez team had the highest-finishing Acura. It finished third. “We had a good car at Mid-Ohio and we were in position to run with the Porsches overall,” Fernandez said. “I have finished second and third there before, but I would love to win at that great track. I feel good about the Lowe’s Acura Lola.”

what is the difference between a regular 2004 Acura MDX and a Touring MDX?

I am looking at a 2004 Acura MDX and do not know if its a bae or a Touring. Other than an upgraded Bose stereo, what is the difference between the two and what additional options does the Touring have?

I was just wondering if anyone could specifically tell me where to find the Temperature Switch and Coolant Temp Sensor on a 1992 Acura Legend? Also, could you please provide step by step instructions on replacing one or both of the items? How difficult is it?

Acura in Review
Filed Under Automotive | Comments Off
Acura cars have not been around for very long, but in their short time of existence they have created a name and customer base that can best be described as loyal. Following the successful ventures of Honda, Acura was developed as a line of luxury Japanese vehicles; which was a first for a Japanese car manufacturer. Acura had to overcome the common American and Canadian beliefs that Japanese vehicles are designed more for economy than luxury. The Acura Legend kicked off this movement in the mid eighties, and changed the Japanese car market forever with its refined classic styling, and impressive performance and handling.
With the introduction of the 1989 Acura NSX (all-aluminum body) super car, Japan took on the markets of Ferrari and Porsche head on with this 276 horsepower sport coupe and emerged in the dust to tell about it. Today, even the mention of the NSX brings tingles down the spines of tuners far and wide. But for many of us average Jane’s and Joe’s; settling for the less expensive Acura Integra will have to do as a close second best.
Complete with a sporty exterior and lively interior the Acura Integra finds balance between economy and performance, with a nice heaping scoop of reliability to top it off. Today however the Integra has been replaced with the all new Acura RSX (with the great looking spoiler); upscale sophistication, tuned suspension, and swooped engine makes this daily driver a pure pleasure to be behind the wheel of. An even more practical version is the Acura TSX, which incorporates European style, performance, and engineering with the roominess of a sedan.
Climbing a few notches above the TSX, one can step into an Acura RL which is Acura’s largest sedan available today. Luxury is the best way to describe driving this elite class vehicle, but don’t be fooled; this upscale driver also features an impressive sport package for handling and performance. “Comfort, convenience, and sportiness” as reported through Consumer Reports describes the Acura TL about as simply and accurately as you can get. Featuring an air pressure monitoring system, engine control module, and 6 speed manual transmission (all standard equipment), the TL is “fully loaded” even at its base price; and having been around awhile, this classic cruiser needs to prove itself to nobody.
Acura is especially popular with the tuner/performance enthusiast crowds in America; but with its huge aftermarket following, who could really blame them. Acura parts in general are not only easy to come by, but the performance upgraded Acura auto parts are even easier to come by. So building up a great tuner machine out of an Acura will be an easy feat, as well as rather enjoyable. But Acura has more than just super cars, sport coupes, and sedans; they also have an impressive line of SUVs; so let’s step off the beaten path and look over two of them.
The Acura MDX forefronts the luxury end of things, while the Acura RDX is considered as more of a tuned crossover compact. The MDX is a mid-duty family hauler designed for those occasional excursions into the wild. With enough power and torque to get you where you need to go, your Acura MDX will not leave you stranded unless you wander into the “extreme” off-road. The Acura RDX, with its turbo-tuned engineering is considered Acura’s answer to the popular BMW X5. Built to cruise the open highways, yet topple a mountain side or two if pushed to the task, the RDX is quite at home in both the city and country. Both make a great choice, as size and functionality will probably be your main deciding factor.
