Acura Mufflers and Sound Rides
Filed Under acura | Comments Off
Evander Klum asked:
If the car makes an awful lot of noise, consider having the muffler replaced with an Acura muffler. One can see the tremendous change once the Acura muffler is properly installed. A muffler is a device designed to reduce the enormous amount of noise that the engine produces. Inside a muffler, one will find a seemingly simple-looking set of tubes that sports a number of holes. These tubes and chambers are actually designed to reflect the sound waves produced by the engine in such a way that the noise partially gets canceled out.
Working with a muffler that’s already in poor condition is not so very different from having none at all. The engine will still continue making such a racket. This often causes distinct annoyance to the driver of the car itself as well as end up disturbing a number of fellow drivers on the road with the noise. However, if one is the unlucky driver of the car, it’s apparent that one cannot simply run away from the noise. It’s a misfortune, indeed but one has got to fix it.
Aside from canceling out the engine’s noise, the Acura muffler is also part of the engine’s exhaust system. It is installed along the exhaust pipe and helps the entire exhaust system function. It is also important to note that a poor-conditioned muffler can also cause a car to fail the state-required smog tests. This is why it is of great importance for a car owner to make sure that the car’s muffler is checked once in a while.
Checking the condition of the muffler is quite simple. If the car makes so much noise, there must be something wrong with the car’s muffler. The noise is a clear indication to the owner to go and have the muffler looked at, then if the part looks about worn down to the bone, changed. One ought to consider having it replaced with an Acura muffler too. Acura mufflers, after all, are known for being able to effectively cancel out engine noise, giving car owners the benefit of enjoying a smooth-sounding ride.

Acura’s 2007 Tl-s
Filed Under acura | Comments Off
Correy Putton asked:
In the market for a new car that’s both fun and high-performance?
Well, Acura’s mid-range 2007 TL-S might just be the perfect car for you. Long been a favorite among car enthusiasts and considered to be Acura’s coolest car since its 2004 redesign, the TL has been Acura’s best-selling vehicle since then at roughly 76,000 U.S. units annually.
For 2007, the TL gets honed and sharpened, and – if you’re just the type who loves performance - the Type-S is out to butt heads with BMW’s 3-Series and every other entry aspiring to be the best in the higher-performance market.
The standard TL comes with a 3.2-liter six that bangs out 258 horsepower. But in the S, standard power is a 3.5-liter V6 with 286 ponies and torque of 256 pound-feet at 5,000 rpm. Tie that to a six-speed close-ratio stick shift and all the perks of quality Acura parts, and the fun factor increases significantly.
The Type-S is will be offered with the options like summer tires and either the close-ratio manual or the quick-shifting manumatic. Its performance is strong, its grip fierce, its higher-effort steering quick and precise and its big four-piston Brembo brakes more than impressive. The Type-S could easily give the likes of the BMW 330i, Infiniti G35, and the Lexus IS 350 a run for its money.
As for the numbers, the Type-S’s 11 percent stronger engine achieves its impressive numbers through an eight-percent boost in displacement (from 3.2 liters to 3.5 liters), thanks to a seven-millimeter longer stroke, slightly larger intake valves with increased lift and duration and 14-percent freer exhaust flow. The engine is also lighter thanks to the hollow camshafts and Acura’s careful use of lightweight materials, which improves front-to-rear weight balance, and its double-wishbone front and multi-link rear suspensions are retuned with stiffer springs, dampers, and stabilizer bars to optimize both handling and stability.
Meanwhile the Type-S’ exterior look is distinguished from the TL’s by specific front and rear fascias with unique bumpers, black chrome trim, wider side sills, racing-inspired ten-spoke alloy wheels, and big quad-outlet tailpipes. Inside, the stunner of a vehicle gets terrific added-lateral-support sport seats, red ambient lighting, Type-S logos on the steering wheel and seatbacks, and Active Noise Cancellation (ANC). ANC uses microphones in the headliner to sense powertrain booming noises, which the car’s sound then system “cancels” by generating synchronized opposite-amplitude sound waves.
Honda’s luxury division plans to move some 70,000 Acura TLs this year in North America, at prices ranging from $34,000-$39,000, and believes about 40 percent will be Type-S models.

Acura Clutch Gives Better Performance Than Any Other Clutch Brands
Filed Under acura | Comments Off
Evander Klum asked:
A powerful vehicle is what motorists dream of. It’s the speed that really excites true-blue car enthusiasts, urging them to go faster to realize the full potential of the car. This is the rush, the thrill, often depicted in movies when drivers change gears to out and out one another. Usually, drivers opt for a vehicle that operates by manual transmission if one wishes to really get a feel of the car’s speed. One can better feel the speed and power of the car with a manual transmission after all. The difference between a manual transmission and an automatic transmission is the presence of a clutch pedal in the former. Some Acura vehicles offer both types of transmission so drivers can choose which one suits them. The Acura clutch allows drivers to stop the vehicle without any need to turn off the engine any longer. This is possible by controlling the slippage between the spinning engine and the non-spinning transmissions.
The Acura clutch system works by friction generated between a clutch plate and a flywheel. When the clutch pedal is pressed, a cable or hydraulic piston pushes on the release fork. This would then press the throw-out bearing against the middle of the diaphragm spring. As the middle of the diaphragm spring is pushed in, a series of pins near the outside of the spring causes the spring to pull the pressure plate away from the clutch disc. It will then release the clutch from the spinning engine. When one’s foot is lifted off the brake pedal, the mechanism springs back, pushing the pressure plate to offer a counter-resistant force against the clutch disc. The clutch disc, in turn, will exert force against the flywheel. Locking the engine to the transmission input shaft will make it possible for these two to spin at the same speed. The amount of force the clutch can support relies on the friction generated between the clutch plate and the flywheel. In addition, the amount of force that the spring is able to exert on the on the pressure plate is also important in determining how much pressure the clutch can handle without breaking.
The most well known difficulty that one can encounter with the Acura clutch is the fact that friction material that the disc is outfitted with gets worn down to the bone, sooner or later. When most or all of the friction material is gone, the clutch will start to slip, and eventually it won’t be able to transmit any power from the engine to the wheels any longer. The Acura clutch even deteriorates that much faster when the clutch disc and the flywheel keep spinning at varying speeds. However, the friction material is held tightly against the flywheel, and the two spin in sync when they happen to be locked together . So if one slips with the clutch a lot, one will wear out one’s clutch a lot faster. Another problem sometimes associated with clutches is a worn throwout bearing. A rumbling noise whenever the clutch engages is usually a sure sign of this problem. One can tell if an Acura clutch needs to be replaced by starting the car in top gear with the hand brake on, then slowly trying to let the clutch out. If the engine stalls, it means the clutch is in good shape. But if the car doesn’t stall, it probably means the clutch will need to be replaced. It is highly recommended to immediately replace the clutch so as to enjoy better driving performance with one’s Acura car.

I have a 1999 Acura 3.2 TL and I’m just wondering how I can make the air conditioner blow more air. It feels like nothing is coming out and takes 30 minutes for the car to heat/cool. I had a mechanic test it and he said it’s producing the correct temperature and insists there’s nothing wrong, but it doesn’t blow enough air!
